How meetup works

Meetup is a social networking site, designed to get people together, and away from the online/virtual approach. There is a cost for hosting a site on Meetup, so organizers usually charge the members a fee. Some venues may charge a certain minimum for hosting an event, also. The fee may be yearly, or per event, depending on which method the organizer thinks would better fund the group.

SINGLES ROMANTIC MOVIES & SOCIAL is currently charging $2.00 per event and A $5.00 annual membership due which should be adequate to pay all site costs, as well as the cost of setting up events, and paying the higher costs incurred when the group is smaller than the venue catered for. Occasionally, the organizer may apply just a $1.00 fee, depending on how simple the event is. This is really up to the organizer, as he/she is responsible for making sure enough money is collected to cover the cost of running the group. Some events may not have a fee at all, if the organizer is able to arrange a contribution from one or more sponsors. Our commitment to you is that we will always try to keep all costs as low as possible.

In order to check your upcoming meetups, just click on your name at the top of the meetup site. A list of your meetup groups and events you have signed up for will appear on the right side of the page. You can use this page to easily navigate between your meetup groups.

To manage your groups, click on ‘Account’ at the top of the meetup site, and then click on ‘Membership and Communications’. You will be able to control who can email you, and quit any group you no longer have an interest in, among other things.
